Monsoon rides are thrilling — the smell of wet roads, peaceful weather, and dramatic skies make every Royal Enfield ride feel cinematic. But behind the scenes, rain and moisture can silently damage your bike. Rust, electrical issues, and reduced braking efficiency become very common.

Here's a complete guide to protect your Royal Enfield throughout the monsoon season.

1. Keep Your Chain Wet — But With Lubrication, Not Water

Rain washes away lubrication, leaving the chain dry and exposed to rust. A dry chain causes:

  • Jerky acceleration
  • Reduced pickup
  • Faster sprocket wear

During monsoons, lubricate your chain every 300–500 km, especially after riding in rain.

2. Protect Electrical Wiring From Moisture

Water can affect:

  • Fuse connections
  • Switches
  • Ignition coil
  • Spark plug sockets

A simple dielectric grease application keeps water away and ensures consistent spark.

3. Apply Anti-Rust Spray on Metal Parts

Royal Enfields have exposed metal areas that are prone to rust. Use anti-rust coating on:

  • Frame joints
  • Nuts and bolts
  • Chrome parts
  • Silencer and underbody

Repeat the treatment every few weeks for the best protection.

4. Check and Clean the Air Filter Often

Monsoon air is full of moisture and dust. A clogged filter means:

  • Low mileage
  • Poor throttle response
  • Black smoke

Clean the air filter frequently, or replace it if you ride regularly.

5. Monitor Your Brakes Carefully

Wet surfaces reduce brake performance. Make sure:

  • Brake pads have enough thickness
  • Brake shoes are not glazed
  • Disc brakes have proper fluid levels

Avoid harsh braking on wet roads whenever possible.

6. Maintain the Tyres

Monsoon = slippery roads. Essential checks include:

  • Good tread depth (minimum 2mm)
  • Correct tyre pressure
  • No cuts or bald patches

Good tyres drastically reduce chances of skidding.

Bonus Tip: Keep the Bike Covered and Dry

Park in shaded or covered areas and use a waterproof bike cover to prevent long-term moisture exposure.

With proper care, your Royal Enfield will handle the monsoon like a champion.
